New trends appear every year, but few stick around. Here are the ones we are seeing in Malasaña that we think have legs in 2026.
Textured fringe is back
After years of bare foreheads, the textured fringe has become the most requested cut in the chair. It works because it softens sharp features, adds movement to fine hair and styles itself with a touch of matte wax.
If you want to try it, ask for pointed ends, not straight. And forget the Caesar fringe: the idea is to look intentionally messy.
Mid fade with volume on top
The mid fade is still king, but this year the difference lies in how the top volume is worked. Less disciplined, more natural. The trick is leaving 4-6 cm on the crown and texturising with scissors.
"Cuts that last are not the ones that are trendy today: they are the ones that always suit you."
The modern mullet: no longer scary
Yes, the mullet. But not the 80s one. The 2026 version is subtle: long only at the back, fading sides, textured top. Works on curly and straight hair, but requires upkeep every 4 weeks.
